Local people are involved in conservation of natural resources and water catchments area. Besides the protection of water catchments area, the park is providing assistance with schools, dispensaries, and other community initiated development projects.

Environmental Education is frequently delivered to local schools so as to instill knowledge and skills to young minds in primary schools. Community Education and Extension work are conducted for local people with the aim of negotiating for a change, raising concern and problem solving on environmental issues.

Agro forestry is undertaken to build alternative resources base, so that dependence on forest resources is reduced.
